About us

Ever fancied joining a choir but thought it wasn’t for you? Think again.

North Coast Choir was founded in 2023 by professional musicians Luke and Elle Spurrell, with one simple idea; singing is for everyone. No auditions. No experience needed. No need to read music. Just turn up, sing your heart out, and enjoy being part of something bigger.

We sing contemporary pop and rock classics to backing tracks, bringing people together across Cornwall for evenings (and mornings) full of energy, laughter and connection.

Curious? Try a * taster session* *discounted three-week trial* and experience North Coast Choir for yourself – meet the people, sing the songs and see if it feels like the right fit for you.

Luke Spurrell

Founder & Musical Director, North Coast Choir

Luke works as a professional musician, travelling the length and breadth of the country, singing and playing guitar in ‘The Indie Killers’. He started his musical career as a bass player, studying at the ACM,  going on to teach at BIMM in Brighton. Since  the tender age of 14, Luke has gigged heavily with various bands (there’s always a story 🤪).
Luke is also a successful songwriter, writing various original tracks that are available on all music providers. He’s also written tracks for film and tv productions.
Further to his career as a rock musician, Luke realises the benefits of music for wellness and mindfulness. He now operates a project called ‘Tree Of Sound’, that does live music meditation sessions as well as sound baths.
A new project taking shape is the couple’s tribute ‘Fakewood Mac’ – a musical journey of the renowned popular band – Fleetwood Mac.
Luke never stays still on a gig, his conducting is elaborate and fun!

“You don’t need to read music. You just need to want to sing.”
